Where are you from?
Elda, Alicante, Spain.
Describe your signature design style in five words.
Feminine, sophisticated, dramatic, elegant, and extravagant.
Do you think true innovation in fashion is still possible?
I believe that any personal vision can always lead to innovation.
What role does the commercial aspect play for you? Does it limit your creativity?
Sometimes, not always. But I am sensitive to comments and reviews, so I always take them into consideration in order to improve myself.
What other art forms inspire your collections?
All of them. Music, cinema, contemporary art, even classic art, as exemplified by the collection that I am currently making.
Do you thrive off of spontaneity or careful planning?
Both options are welcome in my world. You have to know how to adapt depending on the situation. There are moments in which spontaneity is genius, and moments where lack of planning kills results.
How do you deal with creative blocks?
With patience and lots of questions! I ask myself about the reasons why I might be blocked, I try to relax, and then I usually find my answers.
How do you think the fashion industry is going to change as automation takes over?
I think it will change in favor of craftwork, as the ancestral becomes the "new", distancing the zeitgeist from automation as a whole.
Are your designs connected with or inspired by your heritage?
Absolutely, our origins determine a big part of our character, which undoubtably has an effect on our work, both in positive and negative ways.
Are art and commercialization irreconcilable?
It depends. Commercial art in general seems to fall into the category of "pop", but I don't think that label suddenly means that it isn't art anymore.
Did you undergo a formal design education?
Yes, I studied fashion and fine arts.
What first made you passionate about fashion?
My environment, my mom, and at the end of the day, the clothes themselves.
Once you’ve mastered a certain style, is it difficult to continue evolving it?
No, I actually think that the hard part is finding that personal style.
If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
I'd go to Brazil, to a huge beach where my worries could wash away in the crystal clear water.
What is your favorite film?
It's hard to pick one, so I'll just say that Xavier Dolan is my favorite director.
You’ve received an elephant. You can’t give it away or sell it. What would you do with it?
I'd take a nap on top of it.
What is your spirit animal?
It's definitely a toss up between the rat and the cat.
What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
I cover myself again with the duvet.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of fashion?
Running and swimming - I need to move regularly to clear my head and really feel in sync with my body.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Magic. I think that covers the rest of them, right?
