Meet MyMokondo - Legendary Body Straps Inspired by Love
What's your name?
My name is Eva.
Where are you from?
I am from Volgograd, also known as Stalingrad, but I’ve been living in Moscow for 15 years now.Describe your signature design style in five words.
Minimalist, stylish, comfortable, and unique.
What's your biggest source of inspiration?
Love, of course.
Do you think true innovation in fashion is still possible?
Of course it’s possible. Our products - straps - are stand-alone garments. Simultaneously, they are new add-ons for clothes and underwear, there wasn’t anything like that before, or rather, no one has presented lingerie as an accessory that completes a look, and no one has highlighted lingerie the way we do. I use lingerie to add a special flavor to the whole look.
What role does the commercial aspect play for you? Does it limit your creativity?
Of course, I begin with the commercial aspect. This is important.
What other art forms inspire your collections?
Do you prefer to follow or subvert trends?
Our brand is out of trend. Style is out of fashion. I prefer to be stylish rather than fashionable.
Do you thrive off of spontaneity or careful planning?
How do you deal with creative blocks?
I don’t have them.
Do you prioritize aesthetics or functionality?
Design means aesthetics, first and foremost. And then, functionality is equally important.
How do you think the fashion industry is going to change as automation takes over?
It has changed already.
Which fashion designer(s) do you have the most respect for?
Coco Chanel. She was not afraid to go against the trends, it totally inspires me.
Are art and commercialization irreconcilable?
These are reconcilable, check out our brand )
Did you undergo a formal design education?
I graduated in 2012 from the Moscow State University where I studied graphic design for 6 years.
Do you think collaborations between companies and designers are cash plays or real attempts at innovation?
Business is always about money. Otherwise, it would become a charity. However, the latter is also about money.
Do you gravitate more toward designing for men or women?
Once you’ve mastered a certain style, is it difficult to continue evolving it?
Not at all, it becomes easier to continue evolving it.
Do you work better alone or on a team?
On a team, there is safety in numbers.
If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
What is your favorite thing to do outside of fashion?
