What is Clothia?

We are your new, go-to destination for one-of-a-kind fashion pieces from emerging international designers. Our team scours the globe looking for cool, independent brands, so we can give our customers access to a revolving selection of covetable, high-quality, well-priced clothing and accessories that aren’t otherwise available in U.S. boutiques or ecommerce sites.
Our revolving collection is curated with what we call “wearable statement pieces”: conversation-starters that encourage self-expression and individuality. Today we’re launching with 15 up-and-coming designers from Russia and Georgia and we’ll be introducing new designers, from new countries, in the coming months.
The idea for Clothia came about when I moved to NYC and fell in love, instantly, with the city’s sense of style. Having grown up as a nerdy girl in Russia, and having spent much of my early adult life studying computer science, coding, and reading, I hadn’t paid much attention to fashion until I moved to NYC. As I began to experiment with my own style, I started to think about how I could apply my background in tech to bring innovation to the fashion industry: both for consumers and independent designers.
For consumers, Clothia is providing access to covetable fashion pieces from around the world, at attainable prices ($100-$500). Fashion is one of the largest industries in the world, worth an estimated $2.4 trillion. Yet, as the industry as a whole continues to grow, the concept of “fashion” is becoming more and more niche. More than ever before, consumers are turning to clothing and accessories to express their individual personalities and the industry is seeing a growing trend toward high-quality, well-priced, unique pieces that encourage self-expression. While there’s no shortage of brick-and-mortar boutiques in the U.S., their selection is often limited to already established brands, especially when it comes to styles from international designers. Furthermore, while mobile apps allow us to shop from anywhere, at any time, international ecommerce platforms are still relatively limited, especially when it comes to small, emerging brands.
For designers, Clothia simplifies marketing, ecommerce and logistical processes, so that they can focus their attention on their collections. Launching a clothing brand is extremely challenging and time consuming — a process that involves many business decisions including production, manufacturing, funding, marketing and navigating various sales channels. This process often leaves little time for designers to focus their attention on what they do best: designing. Our goal is to continue to introduce new technologies that free up the designers’ time to focus on their art and vision, and not be weighed down by the complexities of analytical marketing, ecommerce, cross-border payments, and shipping logistics.
By introducing technology to fashion, we’re enabling women to express themselves through one-of-a-kind pieces that complement their personalities, and helping small labels reach consumers in the massive U.S. market. And we’re just getting started.
