Filanda n.18
Filanda n.18 is an Italy-based label named after 18th century spinning mills or "filande" in northern Italy. The label centers each collection around a specific craft technique which is then infused with inspiration from modern art, architecture and personal narratives. Each collection takes approximately a year to create.
The designers study the historical background of a specific textile tradition and work with select master artisans across geographies to bring the textile narrative to life. From there, the collection is designed and assembled in the label's studio. For each collection Filanda n.18 works with multiple workshops - from family-size manufacturers in northern Italy to women-run craft communities in India and ikat weavers in Uzbekistan. The amount of research behind each collection represents a rich source of history, romance, and exquisite design for today’s globally-minded wearers.
